However, new scanning technologies featuring improved spatial and temporal resolution, price-performance, and bandwidth are rapidly changing this. 

Moreover, we have successfully created models and simulations of extensive brain regions, illustrating the feasibility of converting neurobiological models and brain connection data into working simulations. The models often get simpler at a higher level, not more complex, suggesting that we are capable of handling the brain's complexity.

In the future, we might be able to use nanobots to scan the brain from inside, providing exquisitely high spatial and temporal resolution. This will allow us to witness in breathtaking detail living brains in action. We will also be able to modify, refine, and extend these techniques as we apply them to computational technologies that are far more powerful than the electrochemical processing that takes place in biological neurons.

In our brains, these nanobots will interact with our biological neurons, providing full-immersion virtual reality and expanding our intelligence.

In addition, we will be able to redesign our digestive system. We will be able to introduce nutrients directly into our bloodstream, eliminating the need for digestion and elimination. This will greatly improve our health and longevity.

Nanotechnology will also be used to augment and replace our organs. This will transform our frail version 1.0 human bodies into their more durable and capable version 2.0 counterparts.

In the future, our bodies will be morphable projections of our intelligence. Once we have incorporated nanotechnology into ourselves, we will be able to create and recreate different bodies at will.

To navigate this complex landscape, we need to focus on developing defensive technologies and streamlining regulatory processes, while fostering a culture that values liberty, tolerance, respect for knowledge and diversity. The development of a nanotechnology-based immune system and a global program for monitoring biological pathogens could be crucial defensive strategies. We also need to raise public awareness of these dangers and the profound benefits of technological advances.

In the end, technology is a double-edged sword. It offers the potential to solve humanity's most pressing problems, but also presents new risks. Navigating this terrain requires a balance of caution and enthusiasm, regulation and freedom, fear and hope. It will be a challenging path, but one that humanity must walk if we are to continue our journey into the future.

Ultimately, the critics' arguments often stem from a limited view of machines and a failure to recognize the potential for complex, self-organizing systems of matter and energy to exhibit human-like characteristics.
