To change this, you need to fill out your personal financial statement and set financial goals for yourself. This will help you understand where you are and where you want to go. 

Don't rely solely on a paycheck. Consider investing in assets that generate cash flow each month. As you gain financial literacy, you can move from being a passive investor who relies on so-called experts, to an active one who seeks answers, and eventually, to a savvy investor who hunts for problems to solve.
